The Choir of Pilgrim Church was kept busy over the Christmas season with several services and the continued preparations for our tour. We had extra workshop rehearsals with the members of Christ Church North Adelaide Choir, who are joining us on the tour.
On Christmas Eve, we were joined by guest organist David Drury for both the morning Advent service and Lessons and Carols in the evening.
Music for the morning service included the Howell’s Gloucester Magnificat, the Sussex Carol, and an improvised postlude by David.
The Lessons and Carols service is one of our favourite services for the year, as it enables us to sing so much beautiful music. Will Todd’s ‘My Lord has Come’ was particularly well received and is one of the pieces we’ll be singing on the forthcoming tour.
Christmas morning is a time of joy and hope, and we are traditionally joined by a brass ensemble who begin our service with a fanfare.
We hope that all our followers had a wonderful Christmas Day and we wish you all the best for the year ahead.
The choir are now all furiously packing ahead of their flight to England tonight! We fly to Birmingham, via Dubai, and from there head to our first stop, Lincoln, where we will sing Evensong on the 28th. Stay tuned for updates from our tour!
