Our second day saw us travel to Durham, and afforded us our first glimpse of snow! On our rest stop, we all took the opportunity to frolick in the snow, much to the amusement of the locals who were too busy trying to avoid it.
On arrival in Durham, we had free time for lunch, before heading up the hill to Durham Cathedral and evensong. It was again a wonderful experience to sing in such a cathedral and we were welcomed wholeheartedly by the clergy. Durham does not allow photography in the cathedral, so we unfortunately don’t have any to share with you of the rehearsal or service.
Several members of the touring party are fans of the Harry Potter series, and Durham’s chapter house and cloisters were both used as filming locations, so it was a real treat to visit.
The following day we travelled to York and were taken on an orientation tour by our guide Christina. In the afternoon we had a tour of the magnificent York Minster, and we can’t wait to sing there on Monday.
Great to have this instalment of your blog. We eagerly look forward to more.
