At our next Evensong we will be singing the a capella Short Service by Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625). A key figure in the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque in English music, Gibbons’ writing is the epitome of courtly gracefulness and refinement.
The photo is of Gibbons’ memorial in Canterbury Cathedral, something we hope to see from close up early next year! We are booked to sing Evensong in Canterbury Cathedral on 3 January, as part of our 2022-23 tour of English Cathedrals.
