Evensong 5pm Saturday 4 July
At our July Evensong this Saturday we’ll be singing a new setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by British composer Joanna Forbes-L’Estrange (b. 1971). Her King’s College Service was commissioned in 2019 by Ben Parry for King’s Voices, the mixed-voice chapel choir at King’s College.
A professional singer and choral conductor as well as a composer, Forbes-L’Estrange has a gift for weaving a musical tapestry from melodies that are eminently singable – even catchy! – but at the same time worthy of the profound truths that it is the duty of sacred music to convey.
