Today we travelled to the city of Ripon, where we met up with an old friend and toured the ruins of Fountains Abbey and the Studley Water Gardens.
First stop for the day was Fountains Abbey, where we were taken on a tour of the ruins. Our tour guide mentioned that the acoustics in the Cellarium were excellent, so we decided to test them out with a renditions of the Stopford. They were indeed excellent!
After a brief stop for lunch, it was back on the bus for Ripon Cathedral, where we met up with our old friend Alana Brooke, who is now organ scholar there. This evening we sang the Wamisley service and our anthem was the Stopford Lully, Lulla.
After evensong it was back on the bus to York to see in the new year. Several of our choristers braved the cold to go hear the bells of york Minster toll for the New Year, while others chose to stay tucked up in the warm hotel!
