2017-18 Choir Tour day 7: Winchester

This morning our group braved the gale force winds of the Salisbury plains to visit Stonehenge. Despite the blustery conditions, everyone was fascinated by this ancient structure and its history.

It was then back to bus for our trip to Winchester Cathedral and the evenings evensong. there is a lot of restoration work happening at present, so we sang from the nave, rather than The Quire, but were afforded a tour after the service. Many of our choir are big literature fans, so Winchester held specia appeal, as it holds the grave of Jane Austen.

The service setting for the evensong was the Brewer Magnificat in D. The anthem was Here is the Little Door by Howells.
